Family Volunteering Club (FVC) is looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and capable person to run the programme in Lambeth and Southwark on an interim basis, whilst our current Local Coordinator (Maddy Mills) has a baby. This is a wonderful and flexible opportunity, to work on a fun and impactful local community project!
Terms:
£15ph for preparation work and £50 for session delivery (2hrs plus travel time)
Flexible hours, though must have availability to run sessions on some Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings.
September 2023 - March 2024. We are waiting to hear about funding for this period so the number of sessions is currently unconfirmed, but we anticipate the Local Coordinator will be running 2 - 3 sessions each month, and therefore working hours would be approximately 14-16 hours a month (10hrs preparation work and 4-6hrs for session delivery).
Freelance contract.
The role is subject to x2 professional references and a DBS check.
Must be available on Friday 8th (Surrey Docks Farm) and / or Saturday 9th September (Bee Urban) from 9.30am - 11.30am to attend current programmed sessions as part of induction.
Key responsibilities:
Creating the Family Volunteering Club programme for this time period in Lambeth and Southwark, in consultation with local families, parent groups and partners including the local authority.
Working with some existing charity partners, and identifying and contacting new ones who might be interested in running a FVC session, working with our criteria.
Having meetings with the charities to help plan the sessions, in accordance with the FVC planning documents, and to the format of a FVC event.
Helping to promote the sessions locally to get families along, putting up posters locally and supporting any access requirements that families may have.
Do necessary admin for planning the sessions to ensure they will be fun, high quality and impactful.
Attending sessions on the day (usually Friday, Saturday or Sunday mornings) and helping the host charity run them, leading the story and song time at the beginning and end of the session, and arranging photo permission forms.
Sharing evaluation, pictures and feedback after the sessions. Wrap up admin.
The Local Coordinator will be:
Passionate about the mission of FVC, and what we are trying to achieve.
A confident and clear communicator (in person, by phone and email) in planning the sessions with the charities.
A great planner of projects / events.
Happy to talk to and engage families and kids during the sessions, and run a short game, read a story or lead a song.
Part of local family / community networks that they can tap into to help promote the sessions.
