Build a Willow Den – School Nature Project

We’re excited to work together to create a wonderful willow den in the school grounds - a natural, eco-friendly space for learning, play, and imagination. During this hands-on session, children will help design and build the structure using freshly cut willow branches. They’ll discover how flexible and sustainable willow can be, learn basic weaving and construction skills, and work together as a team to bring their den to life. The finished willow den will become a special outdoor space for reading, storytelling, quiet time, or nature-based learning - created by the children, for the children.

What Families Can Expect

This will be a fun, hands-on outdoor session where pupils will work together to build a willow den in the school grounds. We’ll start by learning a little about willow - how it grows, why it’s so flexible, and how it can be used to create living structures.
