Berry Special Helpers: Picking Fruit and Vegetables for Care Home Residents

Make the most of strawberry and gooseberry season by picking your own fruit at a local farm and donating most of your harvest to residents of Southern House Care Home in Abergele.

Join us at Ffingar Farm for a wonderful family volunteering session that combines the joy of pick-your-own fruit with the warmth of giving back. Families will spend a relaxed morning in the fields, filling their punnets with ripe strawberries, juicy gooseberries, and seasonal vegetables, then most of the harvest will be delivered to Southern House Care Home, where residents will enjoy the fresh, locally grown treats.

It's a simple act of kindness that brings the taste of summer to people who may not be able to get out and enjoy the farm themselves. Children will love the excitement of picking their own fruit, learning where food comes from, and knowing that their efforts will make someone smile.
